She didn’t pretend to understand something to make me feel appropriate.
Instead, she simply expressed how she felt about my teasing. She was honest about her lack of understanding of the complex idea I was talking about. She didn’t judge me for making it complicated. She didn’t judge herself for not having the level of comprehension to understand it. She simply expressed herself.

My first thought hearing the news was that how can she die? Her story is still incomplete; she had yet to live her dreams. She was only 23 years old; she was young and ambitious. She was just getting started with life.
This story reminds me was that I stand on a mountain built by my parents, grandparents and ancestors—a mountain built with courage and good choices. And all my ancestors contributed to growing the size of that mountain.
